This Privacy Policy explains how the Status Saver — No Ads Android application ("Status Saver", "the app", "we", "us") handles your information. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. What we do not collect
We have no user accounts and no sign-up, and the app shows no advertising. We do not collect, store or transmit your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, or advertising ID. We never access, upload or share the statuses you view or the files you save — those stay on your device, and there is no server of ours for them to go to.
2. What the app does send
Status Saver uses two Google Firebase services to stay working: Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase. Both are anonymous, and both exist for one reason — Android storage behaves differently on nearly every phone model, and without diagnostics a bug that only happens on one manufacturer's device is invisible to us.
Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports)
When the app crashes, or when it fails to read or save a file and recovers from it,
Crashlytics sends a report containing the technical stack trace, your device model,
Android version, the app version and the time it happened, along with a randomly
generated installation identifier that is not linked to you and is reset if you
reinstall the app. Recovered failures are labelled with a fixed internal name such as
save_to_downloads — never with the name of the file involved.
Google Analytics for Firebase (usage counts)
Analytics counts how the app is used, so we can tell which features are worth keeping and where people get stuck. It records which screen is open (Statuses, Downloads, Settings, Language, Preview) and a short, fixed list of actions: saving, sharing, reposting or deleting a status; whether a save or delete succeeded or failed; granting folder access or picking the wrong folder; opening WhatsApp; changing theme or language; and tapping "More apps", "Rate", "Share app" or the privacy link. Each is recorded only as a count, with at most a media type ("image" or "video") and which screen it came from. Analytics also records standard device information — model, Android version, app version, language and approximate country — and session counts.
AD_ID) and switches advertising-ID collection off, so no ad identifier is
read even though Analytics is capable of it. Nothing collected is used for advertising,
and nothing is sold to anyone.
3. Permissions we request and why
-
Internet (
INTERNET,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): used only to deliver the anonymous crash reports and usage counts described above. No app feature needs the network — browsing, saving and sharing all work fully offline. -
Access to the WhatsApp statuses folder: on Android 10 and newer,
the app asks you once to select WhatsApp's
.Statusesfolder using Android's own folder picker. The app reads that folder to list the statuses you have already viewed. The permission stays on your device and can be revoked at any time in Android settings. -
Storage (
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE,WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, on Android 9 and older only): to read the statuses folder and to copy the files you choose into your Downloads folder. -
App visibility (
queries): so the app can tell whether WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business is installed, open it when you tap "Open WhatsApp", and send a status back to it when you tap "Repost". -
Wake lock (
WAKE_LOCK): used by the bundled video player component so the screen behaves correctly while a video status is playing. -
Install referrer
(
BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE): added by the Firebase library so Google Play can tell Analytics that an install happened. It reads nothing from your device and is not used for advertising.
These permissions are used solely to make the app work and for no other purpose.
4. Where your files are stored
Statuses you save are copied into the public Downloads folder on your own device,
under Download/StatusSaver/WhatsApp. They belong to you: they are
visible in your gallery and file manager, and they remain on your device even if
you uninstall Status Saver. The only other thing the app stores is a small local
preferences file holding your theme choice, your language and the folder you selected.
Uninstalling the app deletes that file.
5. Sharing and selling data
We do not sell or trade any data, and we never share your files. The anonymous diagnostics described in section 2 are processed on our behalf by Google as part of the Firebase platform, under Firebase's privacy terms and Google's Privacy Policy. They are visible only to the app's developer, as aggregate counts and crash reports.
When you tap "Share" or "Repost", Android hands the selected file to the app you pick (for example WhatsApp); from that point the receiving app's own privacy policy applies. When you tap "More apps", "Rate on Play Store", or a privacy link, Android opens the Google Play Store or your browser, which are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Data retention
We hold no data ourselves and run no server. The diagnostics sit in Google's Firebase systems under Google's retention settings: Crashlytics keeps crash reports for 90 days, and user-level Analytics data expires on a rolling window (two months by default), after which only aggregated, non-identifying counts remain. Files you save and the app's local preferences stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
7. Your choices
Because the diagnostics are anonymous and carry no account, there is nothing tied to you for us to look up, export or delete. The app does not currently offer an in-app switch for them; uninstalling Status Saver stops all collection immediately, and Android's per-app network settings can also block it. If you have a question or a request about anything described here, email us at the address in section 12 and we will answer.
8. Children's privacy
Status Saver is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
9. Security
Your statuses and saved files never leave your device, so there is no account to breach and no server of ours holding your content. The anonymous diagnostics are sent to Google over an encrypted connection.
10. Content ownership
Status Saver does not download, host, or distribute any content itself. It only gives you access to media that WhatsApp has already stored on your device after you viewed it. Statuses belong to the people who posted them. Please respect their rights and obtain permission before re-sharing or re-posting someone else's content.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date, and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
